MCMCH and our partners have created infographics to aid in advocacy around the FY 26 state budget. Given the volume and magnitude of the proposed cuts that could be seen in the final budget, MCMCH encourages everyone to contact your legislators about at least one priority.
The $10 million supporting MLC verification and the MIAIM safety bundles through the maternal quality payments is strengthening the quality of care provided throughout the state's birthing hospitals. In FY 25, 86% of birthing hospitals completed all the requirements to receive funding. Download the MIAIM/MLC infographic here.
Michigan's Perinatal Quality Collaborative, codified in statute with PA 243 of 2024, operates through the state's 9 regional collaboratives and actively works to tackle the underlying causes of poor birth outcomes and health inequities, connecting providers, families and community voices to find regional solutions. All $5 million proposed to support the PQC is in jeopardy. Download the PQC infographic here.
MC3 was established in 2012 and offers psychiatry support, resources and education to primary care providers in more than 1,000 clinics throughout the state that treat pediatric and perinatal patients. The program not only extends the reach of the limited psychiatrists in the state, it reduces the need for emergency room visits. $5.3 million in state funding must be retained for MC3. We urge continued funding for Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies initiatives--including funding for doulas and the Rx Kids cash prescription program--to sustain Michigan’s record-low infant mortality rate. Download the HMHB infographic here.
